The author then considers the relatively recent extensive excavations at Kintore in Aberdeenshire and looks at the distribution of camps and how our archaeological understanding can help interpret their chronology and context.

About the Author
Dr Rebecca H. Jones is an archaeologist at RCAHMS with a long-standing interest in the Roman army and Roman frontiers. She is a graduate of the Universities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Glasgow, and has also worked for the University of Aberystwyth. Her PhD was on Roman camps in Scotland and she co-authored the volume on Roman Camps in Wales (with Dr J. L. Davies, University of Aberystwyth).
